Like pregnancy, nursing your baby requires special skin care. Those frequent feedings expose your delicate skin to latching, saliva and suction that may cause painful chapping, soreness and cracking.
Prevent discomfort by conditioning your skin in late pregnancy. First, refrain from using soap on the nipple area, as it drys the skin and removes your natural protective oils. After bathing, apply nipple cream to improve resilience. Continue this regimen when nursing.
