Pregnancy Weight Gain Breakdown

Posted by Administrator to Pregnancy
Most women worry about pregnancy weight gain.

Am I gaining enough? Am I gaining too much? Am I going to be able to lose the weight after pregnancy?

We can talk about losing pounds later, but in the meantime, I wanted to share with you the pregnancy weight gain breakdown.

First, you should expect to gain 25 to 35 pounds during pregnancy. While that sounds like a lot, you donít have to worry about where it all goes.

It's normal to worry about how much weight you gain during pregnancy. When you gain the recommended amount, however, the majority goes away when baby is born.

According to WebMD and others, the pregnancy weight gain breakdown looks like this:

- About 4 pounds is attributed to increased blood production

- 8 pounds to the baby

- 6-11 pounds comes from the placenta, uterus and amniotic fluid

- 2-3 pounds is actually due to your larger breasts

- 5-9 pounds of fat

Staying within the recommended 25-35 pounds of weight gain during pregnancy means that youíll likely have less than 10 pounds to lose after baby is born.

So let that inspire you to eat thoughtfully and carefully! And, of course, continue your doctor-approved prenatal exercise for even more protection against extra pounds through pregnancy.

Want to talk about your own pregnancy weight gain? Leave a comment below. I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours. :-)

Love,

Tara
